Hip Hip! R.A.!

The Mets defeated the Orioles today by a score of 5-1. This means two things:

1) With the Braves losing and the Phillies waving the little white flag of surrender, the Mets now move into second place, and only a game and a half out of first.

2) We actually won on the road.

Chris Carter and David Wright provided all the offense we needed. Carter offered up his first Major League home run, a three run shot, and Wright had an both an RBI single and double. And more importantly, he didn't strike out!

But the real story tonight was R.A. Dickey. He struck out a career-high eight batters while pitching seven innings of one run ball. It was Dickey's first career win against the Orioles.

Tomorrow, the Mets try to acheive greatness by winning back-to-back road games for the first time since last season. Hisanori Takahashi takes the mound. We might have a chance to do it if Bobby Valentine isn't named the Orioles manager by then.
